DCLI Is Built To Get You Involved in Politics and Government

During national elections we witness debate, disagreement and the political process unfolding on a very public stage. Ultimately, what we observe and experience is participation in the democratic process, participation that is vital to maintaining a healthy society. Voting and engagement in this process are rights, not privileges; it is our civic responsibility to engage actively on the state and national levels, but most particularly in our own community.

 

DCLI engages students in this political discourse by providing a platform for DCLI Scholars to experience local governance firsthand. DCLI participants will meet and interview political candidates, interact with City of Decatur staff, tour local governance facilities and apply what they observe to support the continued development of student leaders in each high school.
